We are searching for a motivated Accounting Assistant who is an excellent multitasker with exceptional communication and time management skills. The successful candidate is expected to assist the Accounting and Tax department with data entry, processing, classifying transactions, and recording transactions, updating the ledger, assisting with supporting documentations or fact-checking, and assisting with financial statement preparation. You should be thorough, accurate, and honest with good bookkeeping skills.
To be successful, you should have an understanding of basic accounting principles and proficiency with computers and software, such as MS Excel or MYOB / Xero. You should be trustworthy, efficient, and organized.
Providing back-office support to the Accounting and Tax Department.
Performing clerical tasks, such as data processing, classifying / summarizing data, picking up / communicating missing information.
Drafting email communication for client (both email and letter)
Processing transactions and journals for year-end taxation work
Identifying eligible deduction from client summary and raising query as required
Pre-screening initial information received by client and drafting relevant queries
Assisting with Preparing financial reports and supporting documentations for manager's review
General practice administration support as required
Assisting management with ad hoc back-office duties as required.
Requirements
3+ years of solid Australian work experience as an Accounting Assistant or Accounting Clerk in Public Accounting practice
Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures (double entries accounting system)
Excellent Interpersonal Communication Skills
Familiarity with general Australian Taxation System
Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors
Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. Xero / MYOB / QuickBooks)
Excellent Organization skills and sense of urgency with dealing client matter
Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
BSc/Ba in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
