About Ogilvy Ogilvy was founded in 1948 by David Ogilvy. David created a culture that deeply respects and cares about its people and clients. Our mission is to inspire people and brands to make an impact and we are committed to attracting, growing, and retaining the best talent in the industry.
About the Role As a Strategy Director, you are a leader who helps frame opportunities on the account. You're a partner with account, creative, and project management. Through directly managing or mentoring junior strategists, you reinforce your skillset. You both delegate and get hands-on to train by example. You have a perspective on brands & consumers, and you speak from knowledge and experience, granting you authority.
What You'll Do Client Management Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to clients on all things about brand and communications and a critical part of the client-facing leadership team from the agency. Manage client expectations based on priorities and arrange the client's assignments orderly and efficiently. Understanding the client's business model and challenge can provide points of view and solutions that are not limited to the communication perspective (e.g., marketing, business perspective). Strategy Your focus as a Strategy Director: Lead a mid-sized client or be the deputy on a large client(s). Propose the direction of the company/product future development and positioning from the perspective of market and macro trends, make Ogilvy the strategic partner, and have a dialogue with clients regarding the business strategy. Lead pitches and know how and when to determine a direction for new projects. Running different types of workshops (e.g., Big IdeaL and Fusion) as well as being conversant enough on other types of strategy such as engagement, social, and data to be in the discussion and spot opportunities. Seeking to inspire those around you to create and deliver ever-better strategic work. Coaching and developing more junior strategists in your team and supporting the broader agency strategy team to evolve and grow. Starting to be an active trainer in company-wide training on brand & engagement strategies. Conduct Qualitative and Quantitative research plans; analyze third-party vendors to ensure the quality of service. The skills you learn and apply: Learning to be a leader: supporting and inspiring those around you to achieve their goals, be they different types of strategists or from other teams. Being able to flex your approach according to different situations and audiences. Coaching others to shape their arguments, not over-writing them with your own. Becoming more commercially aware and able to spot opportunities for growth for both clients' businesses and the agency. Scoping, able to shape, resource, and price projects profitably. Creative Leadership Clear briefing to creative people and collaborate with the creative and account team to manage and drive the client work. Assist in creative idea development with trend analysis and case studies to make the creative output more innovative and sharp. Make the creative content more relevant to the client business with integrated communication capability and overall creative work collaboration. What You'll Need Bachelor's degree or above, not limited to advertising major. Proficiency in English reading skills. Approximately 9-15 years of experience, more than 8 years of experience in advertising & communication. Capability is the critical criterion for Director level candidates; working experience is a reference. Ogilvy celebrates its people. Fully. Enthusiastically. Unhesitatingly. We'll empower you with the tools you'll need to succeed. We'll give you the autonomy to seek out new paths and better ways of doing things. We'll support you with colleagues who are experts in their disciplines, drawn from across the Ogilvy network. And we'll provide opportunities for you to do work of which you'll be proud, with people you'll be proud to call your teammates.
