Job Description

Balsam International is looking for an exceptionally strong culture leader who will ensure the efficient and effective operations of our Manila Team while keeping true to our unique culture and our people-centric values. The People Manager has exemplary people and project management skills. S/he is hard-working, reliable and trustworthy. S/he has a strong strategic mindset and the capability to translate ideas tactically. S/he has the ability to identify opportunities and potential issues by looking at both qualitative and quantitative data, validate then synthesize recommendations into actionable pieces. S/he has proven record in working collaboratively with others and effectively communicating within different levels in and out of the organization.

S/he will report to the Director of People and manage a team of about 6+ members from the People Initiatives team in Manila. S/he will create, review, update and refine norms to ensure they are above-board, reasonable and consistent with our unique culture. The local and cross-geographical team will consider him/her as the go-to person for concerns and clarifications. Through data analysis, she will create projects and initiatives that will address gaps and result in the achievement of goals. S/he will provide mentorship and guidance to the direct team members and support them in their growth.

What you’ll be doing:

Operations, Admin, Compensation & Benefits

- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Regional Operating Headquarters in Manila
- Identify, plan, monitor and appraise people initiatives through quantitative and qualitative data
- Advocate for local and global organizational development programs to strengthen team member engagement
- Ensure ROHQ labor practices are above-board and enforce the strict adherence to administrative proceedings
- Create, review, update and refine norms to ensure they are above-board, reasonable and consistent with our unique culture
- Review processes and identify gaps to achieve efficiency gains
- Manage sensitive and confidential matters like personnel relations, employee relations, and organizational changes
- Craft company-wide communication that are consistent with global messaging and tone
- Schedule regular touch base calls not just with direct reports but also team members in Manila and cross-functional partners to measure health and climate of the people and the organization as a whole.
- Provide insight to the L&D team on possible trainings, courses to support the professional development of the team
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all company information and files
- Perform other related duties as required

What you bring to the table:

- 4+ years of people management and development experience and over 10 years of actual work experience
- High level of interpersonal skills. Effective relationship building capacity with team members, cross-functional peers and external partners
- Strong strategic mindset and the capacity to translate tactically.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proactively communicates and has the ability to convey information effectively and appropriately for the needs of the audience (asks questions, gives feedback, clarifies potential issues, etc.)
- Proven project and time management skill (ability to prioritize) especially with multiple high-priority tasks. Has strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Extensive people development background with proven capability in identifying talents/strengths, addressing performance gaps and coaching for success
- Highly adaptable to new technology. Has advanced skills in MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PPT, One Note) and other unified communication and collaboration tools or platforms like MS Teams.
- Some background in project management tools like Trello, Basecamp and JIRA, is a plus
- Experience in Human Resources, is a plus

- Must be willing to join occasional in-person meetings and trainings.

- Must have a fast, reliable DSL, Fiber or Broadband connection (not mobile or broadband stick) as the primary internet connection with a minimum actual speed of 5MBPS.
- Must have a back-up internet connection of the same speed, if primary connection becomes spotty.
- Must have licensed MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) including Outlook.
