Job Description
As a Mechanical Design Engineer , you will take on the responsibility of conceptualizing and laying out small instruments or individual modules within more intricate instruments, particularly within the realm of sample preparation for microscopy. Your role will also involve active engagement with the machine shop and assembly teams to collaborate on designs. You'll play a pivotal role in integrating feedback from dealers and end-users into our client's product portfolio, leveraging root cause analysis to identify areas for enhancement.
Here's an overview of your future role:
Employment Type: Full-time
Shift: Day (Monday to Friday 6AM to 3PM)
Work Setup: Onsite, Alabang
What do you need to succeed? Minimum of three (3) years of experience in designing, building, and testing mechanisms, including small fiber equipment, laboratory equipment, and electronics.
Proficiency in Fusion 360 CAD design.
Working knowledge of DFMEA & PFMEA is preferred.
Ability to evaluate design margins and reliability factors, including tolerances, wear, material strength, compatibility, and compounding effects such as environment and vibration, is preferred.
Experience in production and/or assembly line operations.
Expertise in precision mechanisms.
Working knowledge of Supply Chain/Manufacturing principles and implementation of DFx inputs into designs is preferred.
Proficiency in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering tools and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Familiarity with industry standards for system, DC motor, and mechanical design.
Capability to estimate project/task effort levels.
A proven track record with several successful iterations of ultra-precision designs successfully transferred to manufacturing.
Experience with ISO 9001 compliance.
A quick learner who is genuinely interested in developing robust solutions to improve sample preparation tools and related areas.
Encouragement for experienced engineers in ultramicrotomy and/or metrology to apply.
What awaits you in this role? Ensure the conversion of all 2D drawings into 3D models, aligning them with GD&T standards.
Ensure proper fit of 3D assemblies with tight tolerances and tolerance stacks on mating parts.
Take responsibility for concept design and layout of small instruments or single modules, especially in the field of sample preparation for microscopy.
Collaborate with the machine shop and assembly teams on designs, incorporating feedback from dealers and end-users to improve our product portfolio through root cause analysis, monitoring production impact, and making adjustments for enhanced efficiencies and reduced deficiencies.
Develop mechanical system design solutions, employing a combination of theoretical and empirical design approaches to sustain our products post-launch.
Collaborate with Production and external manufacturing partners to integrate design improvements into the manufacturing process of new parts and instruments.
Ensure that the design enables the creation of reliable modules and instruments that are easy to manufacture and service.
Utilize best practices in mechanical design analysis, modeling, and tolerance analysis to produce highly viable mechanical solutions for micro-electronic, mechanical, and optical components.
Engage in activities such as brainstorming, concept selection, DFMA, and FMEA.
Take responsibility for all aspects of design documentation, including requirements specification, engineering analysis, drawings, test plans/procedures, validation, the release of components, assemblies, and products to production, and provide production start-up support, utilizing CAD as a design tool.
Manage own investigations (such as 8Ds and ECNs) and liaise cross-functionally to ensure project progress.
Design and implement production test fixtures, assembly jigs, and tools.
