Description
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor’s Mayborn College of Health Sciences seeks qualified faculty for its School of Exercise & Sport Science beginning Fall 2020, with appointment at the rank of Instructor. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.
The School of Exercise and Sport Science offers five undergraduate degree programs that include the BS in Health Science (Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-Medicine), the BS in Exercise Physiology, the BS & BA in Sport Management and a BS in Physical Education with teaching certification. Additionally, the School offers two graduate degrees that include a Master’s of Science in Exercise Physiology and a Master’s of Science in Sport Administration. The School also offers a robust activity course curriculum for all UMHB students. Our goal is to engage students in a Christ-centered learning environment where they will develop the knowledge, skills, and inter-professional competencies to become leaders in the complex and dynamic environment of health sciences.
UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 20,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (5 miles), Waco (45 miles), Austin (65 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.
Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student advising; professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.
Specific Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses primarily in the School’s activity course curriculum. This Instructor position is a non-tenure track position with minimal student advising and committee work. Teaching load is typically 15 hours.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate-level course hours in Exercise & Sport Science or a closely related field.
Additional fitness certifications and experience teaching a variety of fitness activities is preferred.
Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential.
Must be an active, and committed Christian.
