Job Description Job Summary Responsible for Commercial Electricity / Energy Trading that involves submission of market bids through WESM to determine real-time energy prices and dispatch. It includes analysis of energy market environment as well as the physical attributes that affect the market energy demand. Performs daily forecast analysis using market historical data and create model scenarios for management with determined risk analysis while providing insights on future trends that is used as basis for operational and commercial strategies.
Job Responsibilities Ensure that trading strategies will not result in unsafe operation of the plant/equipment and risk to personnel. Minimize opportunity loss due to trading. Process information quickly and make timely decisions on bidding, security limits, and other options available to optimize gross margin and minimize losses during emergencies. Device and coordinate real time asset bidding and hedging activities in balancing risk and value. Coordinate with Plant Control Operator and System Operator (SO) regarding compliance to Dispatch Conformance Standard (DCS) and Offer Capacity Compliance (OCC). Appropriately challenge inconsistent real time System Operator (SO)/Market Operator (MO) calls and application of SO/MO rules. Analyze electricity market trends and recommend business strategies. Improve/update trading skills of Traders. Improve/update trading and computer skills through training. Prepare Daily, Weekly and Monthly Trading Reports. Collect and evaluate market intelligence. Add and maintain our database so we can analyze/forecast the market. Create tools that may help in trading and analysis. Conduct Daily Roles and Responsibilities. Maintaining Standing Bid Profiles. Ensuring accurate Daily Working Profile. Acknowledgement, Updating, Validation and Revisions of Self-scheduled Nominations, Bids, and Offers. Coordinate with System Operator's Planning Dept. relative to Security Limit request. Report on Material Adverse Change in State of Trading Participant Facilities including outages and force majeure. Consolidation and Analysis of IEMOP related data to assist in planning of several Commercial-related functions. Other WESM related functions include compliance to the WESM compliance reporting procedure. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Economics, Accounting or Electrical Engineering course Has strong analytical skills and mathematical background Possess high organizational skills and attention to detail Advance to Intermediate skill in Microsoft Excel (preferably macro) Fresh grad or with 1-year experience in energy trading Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays Ability to work in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment Excellent communication and negotiation skills Working Location 14F, Zuellig Building.
