ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING Job Purpose Theposition is responsible for the Engineering Management, Repair and Maintenanceof the whole building complex. In-charge of the department’s AdministrationP&P, Budgeting, P&L, CAPEX/OPEX and over-all Operations and Maintenanceto have a safe and comfortable environment for all Colleagues, Guests andvisitors.

Primary Responsibilities

MANAGEMENTAND LEADERSHIP OF THE ENGINEERING TEAM

- Conduct regular briefings with Line Managersand Supervisors and discuss operational issues and accomplishments.
- Recruit, schedule, conduct performancereviews, train and develop Engineering Colleagues.
- Balance operational, administrative andColleague needs.
- Follow departmental policies and procedures.
- Follow all fire, life and safety policies.

INVOLVEMENTAS A MEMBER OF THE HOTEL LEADERSHIP TEAM

- Good knowledge of business needs, financialreporting and productivity requirements.
- Monitor and liaise with the Director ofSecurity and Risk Management on FLS, building evacuation, emergencyresponse and disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure prompt and immediate response tomaintenance requests for Guests and Colleagues.
- Ensures compliance with all Engineeringdepartmental policies, standards and procedures.
- Ensures good relationships are built withinternal and external customers.
- Consistently offer professional, friendly andengaging service.

MANAGING PROPERTY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

- Handles the Engineering division in the absence ofthe Director of Engineering.

- Assists in managing the physical plantincluding equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment,electrical, emergency power and life safety systems.
- Manage and analyze engineering-related data toobtain optimum availability and maximum performance of all equipment ofthe property.
- Conduct corrective, preventive and predictivemeasures on all machines and equipment to ensure uninterrupted supply ofelectricity, water, fuel, air conditioning, hot water, ventilation amongothers which is vital to the business operations of the property.
- Establishes and manages an effective Rooms’Maintenance Program.
- Manages department's controllable expenses toachieve budgeted goals.
- Select, order and evaluate new equipment,supplies, and furnishings.
- Inspect and evaluate the physical condition offacilities and equipment and take necessary actions for rectificationworks if any.
- Manage CAPEX Projects and sees its adherenceto the standard Project Management flowchart at the minimum cost.
- Recommend or arrange for additional servicessuch as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement offurnishings and equipment.
- Manages and supervises the day to dayoperations of Engineering department.
- Follow the annual repairand maintenance budget.
- Assist in themonitoring of energy and water management programs.

Main Complexity/Critical issues in theJob

- Reliability of all property MajorEquipments and Systems (i.e. Power, Water, A/C, Gensets, LPG, etc.)

- Reliability of Rooms’ functionality andavailability

- Management and integrity of thebuilding and facilities

- Life and Safety of both Guest andColleagues

- Timely issuance of all requiredGovernment Statutory Requirements (e.g. Building permits and Fire SafetyInspection certificate.)

Profile

Qualifications and Experience

- Must be a degree holder in MechanicalEngineering and duly licensed by the Professional RegulationsCommission. PME is anadded advantage.
- Responsible self-starter, capable of handlingmulti-faceted projects and of working under pressure.
- Should have at least 15 years or moreof working experience inEngineering Repair and Maintenance, at least 5 years of which inthe Hospitality Industry.
- Advanced knowledge of air conditioning,ventilation, refrigeration systems and related HVAC systems.
- Good knowledge of building Civil repair andmaintenance works.
- Good knowledge of building Electrical repairand maintenance works.
- Good knowledge of Fire protection and Plumbingsystems.
