The School of Professional and Career Education seeks adjunct faculty to add to our roster of contract faculty for assignments on an as-needed basis. Currently, we are seeking adjunct faculty to teach in the undergraduate discipline(s) and/or graduate program(s):
UndergraduateDiscipline(s)
Art, Biology, Emergency Management, English, Health Services Administration, History, Philosophy
Graduate Program(s)
Master of Public Administration (MPA)
Essential Functions
Adjunct faculty are responsible for all associated preparation for their class, assessment and evaluation, and student consultation. Adjunct faculty responsibilities includes these as well as others outlined in the adjunct faculty handbook.
Function as the principal source of instruction and the faculty of record in the instructional setting for a class.
Available for student consultation prior to the start of the class at the sites or online and can be reached via email or phone.
Collaborate with their respective Academic Coordinators in the delivery of the assigned course.
Work closely with Site Managers and Academic Advisors on scheduling and student related issues.
Qualifications/Requirements
Prior college level teaching experience with the adult student population preferred.
Applied experience in the field highly valued.
Ability to plan delivery of course content and related assignments within the designated time frame for the course and in a manner that allows feedback from the students.
Ability to utilize the university technology in content delivery and communication with students, faculty, and staff – WebAdvisor (online student records), WebEx, BarryU Email, CANVAS.
UNDERGRADUATE Teaching Requirement:
Master’s degree required in one of the listed discipline above.
Doctoral degree preferred for undergraduate teaching.
GRADUATE Teaching Requirement:
Doctoral degree required for teaching graduate level courses.
